OEDIPUS

Theatre Odyssey presents
OEDIPUS:
The Reason of Tiresias
by John J. Taylor, After Sophocles
A rehearsed reading with the cast, followed by audience discussion.
2pm, Saturday 24th April, Barron Theatre
Oedipus is a Senior Partner in Theban Legal Services, representing a blind client who can, apparently, tell the future. The other partners are against him, and it is up to him, and only him, to find the reason for the firm's failure. Follow Oedipus as he progresses through his blindness towards a full view of the truth. Or vice-versa.
In John J. Taylor's new adaptation of Sophocles' 5th Century BC play, Oedipus is brought firmly into the 21st Century, while retaining the essential elements, themes and structure of the original play. Part of the production process, the directors, cast and writer will present a rehearsed reading of this production-in-process, followed by discussion and feedback from the audience. The full production will take place in the Byre Theatre in Autumn 2010. Join the audience to be a part of this major production, marking Theatre Odyssey's 10th Annversary.
